Participate in all activities and complete all assignments. Others- Keep hands, feet, objects, etc. to your self. Use appropriate language and conversation topics. Self- Come prepared to class with books and a writing utensil. Sit properly in your seat. Ask permission to leave your seat.
Speak in turn. Raise your hand to be recognized.
Discipline: In life there are consequences to our actions. Here is what you can expect if you break Mr. Dwyer’s rules: 1. Warning- One warning will be issued without discussion.
2. Complete T.O.S. form.
3. Phone Call to home- Your guardian will be notified.
4. Detention- After school detentions only; no lunch detentions.
5. Referral- A visit to the office and together we will resolve the problem.
Homework: All homework is due the class period after it has been assigned unless otherwise noted. Students must bring their homework to class on the day that it is due. Homework will not be accepted late.
Quizzes and Tests: Students will take a test based on that unit’s lessons. More often than not the test will be on Friday. Most tests will have a written section that includes at least one Brief Constructed Response (short answer) and possibly one Extended Constructed Response (essay). In addition students will be expected to answer 25 to 30 selected response (multiple choice) questions.
Absences: Students have five days to make up work that was missed due to absence. The student is responsible for getting any missed work and handing in any assignments that are due while he or she was absent. All tests must be made up AFTER school as soon as possible. The student must arrange a time with me. No make up tests are given at lunch or during class time.
Materials: Students are required to come to class every day prepared. Be sure to have the following materials:
- 2 blue or black pens
- 2 pencils
- Spiral Notebook
- Glue In addition to the above materials the following will be used often in my class. I encourage you to bring your own set of the following. - Ruler
- Scissors
- Colored pencils
IMPORTANT: Students will not be permitted to leave class to go to their lockers to retrieve materials that are not brought to class.
Student Work: All student work should be completed neatly in blue or black ink or pencil. Green, pink, red, yellow, or gels pens that are not blue or black are unacceptable. All tests should be completed in blue or black ink. All work should have correct spelling, the date, and the student’s name in the top right hand corner. Answers must be written in complete sentences. Work completed and handed in without a name will not be graded. All class work is due on the day it is completed. Projects are due on the day assigned. Students may hand class work and projects in late for half credit.
